The portrait collection at Gripsholm Castle is internationally renowned. This is the Swedish State Portrait Collection, with more than 4,500 works including portraits of significant historical figures dating from King Gustav Vasa's reign to the present day.
The castle is also home to one of Europe's best-preserved 18th century theatres, which King Gustav III had installed in one of the castle's round renaissance towers.
